Kai Cowin

Senior Dual Degree Candidate in Political Science and Sports Law

Kai Cowin is currently a Rice University dual-degree candidate in Political Science and Sports Law, complemented by a minor in Politics, Law, and Social Thought, and a member of Pi Sigma Alpha, the National Political Science Honor Society. His academic journey reflects a deep commitment to understanding global affairs and tackling complex issues ranging from socio-political corruption to civil war dynamics. Beyond academics, Kai is involved in community engagement through his roles as a board member of La Chaîne des Rôtisseurs (Houston), the Rice University Event Management Team, and as President of the Rice University Table Tennis Club. He has led the Rice team to regional competitions and secured sponsorships.

He is a passionate debater and co-founder of Meskouri-Cowin Prep, coaching multiple nationally ranked debate teams in the United States. His commitment extends to the Model United Nations, where he managed real-time crisis simulations. As a research assistant for the Sherpa Institute, a UN subsidiary, he specialized in SDG 3: Good Health and Well-being.
